Hey there, my friend.
No, not “Welcome”, not today; this is not a polished and edited article, it’s just a quick note to let you know what’s going on.
First off, some pretty exciting news: last Saturday, I was in a debate, livestreamed on YouTube! I joined Jade, on YouTube as The Urban Conservative, and her friend EuroAndTravel offered to host it, and it was amazing!
Format Changes
I’ll tell you all about it in a moment, but first off, I wanted to let you know about some format changes coming down the line for UTW. I feel like I’ve been talking at you a whole lot, and I’d rather be talking with you. And, since the livestream was so much fun, I’ve decided I’m gonna be doing more of that.
The current plan for the schedule is that for next Saturday, I’m gonna be posting an edited transcript of the debate that I had last Saturday. (Edited, because I’ve learned just how much I use “Um” and “Ah” and “Like” in my speech, and that doesn’t make for very interesting reading.) After that, there might be a break of a week or two, and after that, we’re gonna go to weekly livestreams, with the occasional long-form article here and there.
UTW Live Debate
The debate, though! It was fantastic. If you were one of the folks who managed to make it there, thank you so much.
It is the first time I’ve had a chance to discuss No Confidence in public, and I’ve learned that there are some things that I have really not been clear enough about.
The biggest one: it’s a draft!
No Confidence is very, very much a work in progress. I think it’s gotten to the place where it’s pretty decent, but I know that I’m just a layperson. I have a very limited perspective, and there are a lot of things I just don’t have a lot of experience with. For one thing, I have very little experience in economics, which Jade very much schooled me on during the debate!
Working Together
But she and I have been talking a lot since then, and she’s come up with an amazing, amazing idea, which I’m so happy to say is part of No Confidence now.
I’ll post the new draft as soon as I have it ready, but the short version is that we’re creating a new type of civil service called Civil Deputies. It is an economic stimulus that is state-driven, will create 3 million jobs across America, and will put $300 billion into the pockets of working-class Americans.
That’s amazing, and it’s something I never would have come up with on my own. It has been absolutely phenomenal to get to pick her brain for ideas, and I can’t wait to show you what we have coming down the line.
Next Time
For now, though, thank you so much, my friend, for coming with me. Thanks for still being here, it has been absolutely fantastic.
As for me, though, I’m going to sign off!
So, thank you so much, I’ll see you next Saturday, and as always: stay safe.
Thank you for reading! Have you registered to vote yet? Here in Massachusetts, voter registration for the primaries ends on August 22, so check on that now, while you’re thinking about it!
Let me know in the comments what you think about the upcoming new directions for UTW!
Share this with someone you know who is looking for a change, and stay safe.
